The “Utah Children’s Nutcracker Ballet” is an enchanting children’s ballet which captivates the hearts of all children. The Utah Children’s Nutcracker Ballet was choreographed by Barbara Nesi Olsen. Barbara received her ballet training from Willam Christensen the founder of Utah’s Ballet West and choreographer of Utah’s Ballet West Nutcracker. Mr. C’s Ballet West Nutcracker served as an inspiration to Barbara while choreographing Utah Artists School of Ballet’s “Utah Children’s Nutcracker Ballet”. The Utah Children’s Nutcracker ballet presents the Nutcracker ballet story through Barbara’s extraordinary and unique Nutcracker Ballet choreography. . The choreography is magical. Enchanting and unsurpassed by any other Utah Nutcracker Ballet.

The story begins with Clara’s family’s annual Christmas party with relatives, friends and a very eccentric Uncle Drosselmeyer. Uncle Drosselmeyer,brings Clara a Nutcracker Doll that is enchanted. When Clara goes to sleep that night the magic begins. She awakes to mice and toy soldiers battling in her living room. The mouse king kills the Nutcracker Prince and the prince comes to life as a real prince. He takes Clara on a journey to visit the Snow Queen and her lovely Snowflakes. The journey continues to the Land of the Sugar Plum Fairy. There Clara meets Sugar Plum Fairy, Candy Canes, Peppermint sticks, Angels, Oriental Servants. The Sugar Plum Fairy summons Spanish Dancers, Arabian Dancers, Chinese dancers and Russian Dancers. Clara has so much fun meeting a giant Mother Ginger and to her surprise 12 little gingerells come out from under her enormous skirt. Clara enjoys the beautiful dance of The Waltz of the Flowers Queen with her beautiful flowers. The Sugar Plum Fairy and her gallant Cavalier dance an elegant pas de deux. Clara’s night is over, was that just a dream?
